Penelec Electric Alternative in Pennsylvania

One of the fundamental rights of a consumer is choice. You get to choose the restaurant where you eat, the department store where you shop, and the online retailer where you browse. However, many consumers forgo that choice when it comes to their home or business’ utilities.

This can leave consumers without the benefits that come from choosing an Alternative Retail Electric Supplier, or ARES, like Nordic Energy. Of course, no consumer can be expected to make an informed decision about who supplies their electricity without a basic understanding of how ARES companies operate and how they differ from your typical utility company.

Nordic Energy Is a Penelec Energy Alternative

A typical utility like Penelec is responsible for the critical infrastructure that delivers electricity to your home or business. So, if you’re experiencing a power outage or notice a downed power line, you’ll reach out to Penelec to resolve the issue.

In many cases, though, utility companies like Penelec also serve as your energy supplier. That is, Penelec provides the electricity carried through their infrastructure before it’s delivered to your home or business. This means you pay them a monthly bill based on how much electricity you use.

However, in many states, including Pennsylvania, you can choose to purchase your electricity through an alternative retail electric supplier like Nordic Energy. In this case, the utility company is still responsible for the infrastructure that delivers electricity to your home, but you’ll purchase the electricity from a different company.

A Penelec alternative, like Nordic Energy, often purchase their electricity wholesale from a variety of commodities markets. They then resell this electricity to consumers like you for use in their home or business.

Generally, the availability of an alternative supplier can reap multiple benefits to consumers. When utility companies act as both suppliers and deliverers, they control the whole system. In states where alternative suppliers aren’t as standard, this has led to utility companies becoming set in their ways and forgoing innovation that consumers crave.

Even in states with plenty of alternative supplier options, consumers, by default or inaction, often stick with their utility company for both roles. This means that ARES has to go above and beyond to compete for customers. To help consumers consider switching to an alternative supplier, many of these companies promote financial incentives, superior customer service, and new product offerings.

Each of these sales executives is backed by a team of energy management professionals whose knowledge and experience can help you make informed decisions about your electricity.

Speaking of informed decisions, we always want our customers to be educated about the energy markets. We provide a Weekly Gas Outlook newsletter to our customers that offer the same market intelligence our teams look at when setting prices. This additional information can help individuals and businesses make effective choices about their electricity usage.

We know that what often drives consumer behavior is pricing. We don’t try to hide our pricing behind the hieroglyphics you may find on our competitors’ websites or pricing guides. Instead, we offer real-time price quotes so that you can make the best financial choice quicker.

Our experience in this industry has given us the expertise to deliver low-cost solutions to our customers. Unlike utility companies or some of our competitors, we source our electricity from several markets. This gives us the necessary leverage to negotiate prices to the lowest possible market cost. We can then pass these savings and reward dollars to our customers.
