Nordic Client Access
*IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO OUR INDIANA CUSTOMERS:
Our Indiana customers may see a slight increase in their January, 2008 invoices as the result of a November, 13, 2007 ruling by The Indiana Department of Revenue (IDOR) determining that all Marketers’ supply of natural gas to its’ customers is subject to a utility receipts tax (URT).
The URT is imposed on the total sales price of natural gas used for consumption at a rate of approximately 1.4%.
The IDOR has assessed this tax on all Marketers’ beginning January 1, 2005. Per your contract with Nordic, customers are responsible for all taxes imposed. As a result, Nordic will process a one-time catch-up charge to customers in January, 2008 in order to collect these imposed taxes on behalf of the IDOR.
The URT is unique in that it is not exempt for companies or individuals who may hold a not-for-profit or income tax exemption status or those that may hold a sales tax exemption.
The URT is only exempt for the following entities:
- Conservancy districts
- Regional water, sewage, or solid waste districts
- Non-profit corporations formed solely for the purpose of supplying water or sewage service to the public.
- A county or district solid waste management district.
